Dorm Desk Decor

Long time, no post...but what can I say, I'm a busy gal (and a lazy one). I've been feeling really inspired to get back into blogging lately, but let's see if I can actually commit to it this time. With the sun going down earlier and interning 3 days a week, there's only so much sunlight for me to work with, but I'm hoping to share some new content soon.

I've been dying to share my desk decor because it's the one part of my room I truly love. But truth behold, I never sit down to do homework at my desk, or really anything for that matter. I've shared glimpses of my desk over on my Instagram, but I finally put the finishing touches together. TBH I thought it was ready to be shared months ago, but then I stepped into Anthropologie recently and let's just say I bought more stuff that I didn't need. I think it's safe to call me the knickknack queen. I mean seriously, how many jewelry trays and candles does one person really need?! I'll post shoppable widgets throughout with the items that I have and other items on my wishlist!

OOTD: Botanical Bliss

I'm SO excited for today's blog post & it's going to be a long one because there's too many photos to narrow down! If you're from Western Mass like I am, then you know there is little to do in the area. However, my friends and I finally got around to visiting the Smith College Botanic Garden in North Hampton, Massachusetts. I highly suggest visiting, not only are the gardens beautiful, but Smith College has a beautiful campus. We spent the morning wandering around the gardens and campus taking photos. After leaving the campus, we headed to downtown North Hampton to grab a bite to eat and do a little shopping.

Memorial Day Weekend Recap

I'm so thankful for all those who have risked their lives in order to protect our freedom, "home of the free because of the brave." I hope everyone had a relaxing Memorial Day Weekend spent with loved ones and friends!

Memorial Day Weekend is usually my official kick off to summer, despite what the calendar may say. As a kid, I always attended the Memorial Day Parade in my town and then went in my pool for the first time for the summer. As I've gotten older, I tend to work on Memorial Day and the past few years the weather hasn't exactly cooperated. Memorial Day this year felt more like one of the first days of spring and was raining on and off throughout the day so swimming wasn't on my itinerary for the day.

Denim & Chambray Lookbook: Halter Jumpsuit

I'm so excited to share the second look in my denim & chambray lookbook featuring this halter jumpsuit! If you missed the first outfit of the lookbook, you can see it here! This outfit was actually shot last summer, but I never got around to posting it. But hey, better to post it late rather than never! Since the post is from last summer, I somehow lost a lot of the photos but I figured it was worth posting anyways!

Summer Reading List & Recommendations

One of my favorite parts of summer is actually having time to read! It always amazes me when people say they don't enjoy reading because I find it a great way to relax and unwind. I love being able to escape reality with a good book. I tend to read young adult romance(ish) novels and recently I've been buying books that take place in Europe. To be completely honest, I'm trying to relive my moments abroad vicariously through books, but hey who can really blame me. Although I do love reading on my phone usually, it's not exactly ideal for reading outside in the sun, so I've been picking up some books from Barnes & Noble and Amazon. I'm hoping to have some free time this summer to sit back and relax by the pool or on the beach and enjoy reading a good book!

OOTD: Spring Blooms

Happy spring everyone! I'm happy April showers finally brought May flowers! I had walked by this tree countless times on campus on the way to the dining hall and I finally dragged my roommate to take photos of me in front of it!

OOTD: Spring in Boston

Happy spring everyone! There is no where I love spring more than Boston. From the tulips blooming in the Public Garden to the trees budding in Boston neighborhoods, there is nothing not to love. A few weekends back I finally had the chance to get into the city and the weather was a perfect 80 degrees! Now as I'm writing this post it feels more like fall than spring, but hey that's New England weather for ya!

With the perfect spring weather and a trip into the city, I couldn't resist wearing my new Lilly romper I bought recently for only $35 (!!!!) at T.J. Maxx. I also figured it was time to fully break in my new Jacks, but I made sure to pack an extra pair of sandals just in case my feet started to hurt, which evidently happened. I knew Jack Rogers were going to be painful to break in, but I didn't realize how painful they'd actually be! Luckily after wearing them around the city for hours, I think they're finally ready to be worn all summer long!

Denim & Chambray Lookbook: Off the Shoulder Dress

If you've ever shopped with me, you know how much I love denim & chambray. Whether it's a shirt, dress, jumpsuit, skirt, etc. I want it all! I've acquired quite the collection of denim and chambray over the past few years and I'm so excited to show you all my favorite denim and chambray outfits.

I'm so excited to share my first outfit of my denim & chambray lookbook, which just so happens to be from Easter! This was the first Easter with my family's new puppy, Callie, so I figured it was the perfect opportunity to have a photo shoot with her. Let me tell you, trying to get a 5 month old puppy to cooperate and pose for a photo isn't easy. It was the perfect weather for Easter in New England, over 80 degrees and sunny, which gave me the perfect excuse to wear a new dress.

Strolling Florence in Soludos

While studying abroad in Florence, Italy, I took one of my favorite classes thus far - introduction to fashion photography class. For our final project we had to do an ad campaign for a brand with 10-15 photos with multiple locations, drawing inspiration from past ad campaigns from the brand. I decided there was no brand better for this project than Soludos, since the brand is so focused on travel. Although it would have been better if I took my photos in the cliff side towns of the Italian Coast, I took my photos throughout Florence using the Renaissance architecture and the Italian city as my background. Here are some of my favorite photos from the shoot:

Junior Year Dorm Decor

Welcome to my junior year dorm! I spent the first semester of my junior year in Italy, so I recently moved into this room. I was so excited to decorate this year after living in such a basic and boring room in Italy.

If I had to describe my room in 3 words it would be cheerful, playful, and colorful. I wouldn't say there is any theme to my room specifically; I more so just buy what I like and hope it looks good together. I love living in a bright room with things all around me that inspire me and remind me of home. This year I incorporated a lot of things from my travels last semester, which you'll see throughout the photos.

October Street Style Inspiration

Hello all! I've recently been extremely inspired by street style, both online and on the streets of Florence, Italy (where I'm currently studying abroad). I find myself more interested by street style from fashion week than the actual runway looks. With all that being said, I've decided to compile a blog post of all my street style favorite lately and explain why each look inspire's me. I hope you enjoy!

Four Summer Finds - A Mini Haul

Hello all! Although I'm supposed to be saving money to study abroad, I some how found myself at the mall (shocker) and I was ready to drop some cash on new clothes! I've been on the hunt for the perfect lace up shoes and after being extremely disappointed Macy's was sold out of the Steve Madden ones in taupe, I finally settled on a pair from Nine West! I also ventured into Forever 21 for some new clothes that my budget could afford. I'm one of those people who actually enjoys going through every room in Forever 21. I think it was time well spent since I was able to walk away with 3 pieces. I was originally only going to buy 2 but on the way out I saw something else I knew I needed, does this happen to anyone else?! Here's what I bought:

four summer finds

Forever 21 Ribbed Knit A-line Dress: to be honest I usually hate ribbed clothing but something about this dress was calling my name! I bought it in a blush pink color and the store had a couple more colors (unfortunately the website only has cream left). This is a great basic for summer than can be dressed up or down depending on your shoes and accessories.

Forever 21 Contemporary Pleated Cami: I'm usually not a big fan of things with a peplum silhouette or ruffles, but again this was calling my name! When I saw it across the store I knew I needed it. I bought it in the mint color which will look perfect with white jeans and summer sandals for a nice dinner or while I'm studying abroad in Italy! For only $15.90 there was no way I was leaving without it.

Forever 21 Tassel-Hem Gauze Shorts: these shorts caught my attention when I was leaving the store and I decided to buy them on a whim without trying them on. I loved the tassel detailing, which is super trendy lately. I wish I had tried them on because they are a bit shorter than I was expecting, but I'm sure I'll still wear them either over a bikini or out with friends.

Nine West 'Signmeup' Lace-Up Flats: this is the purchase I'm most excited about and the reason I went on this shopping adventure. The best part of these shoes is the insane deal I got them for. I only paid $60!! Yup you read that right, only $60! Macy's had them on sale for $79 instead of $89 and they are having an insane shoe deal right now, if you buy one pair it's an extra 25% off, 2 pairs is an extra 30% off, and 4 pairs is an extra 40% off!! I even had Macy's gift cards so I didn't even have to spend any money on these. I think these will be the perfect flats all summer long and I'll be packing them for Italy too!

Trending OOTD: Off the Shoulder

My favorite trend lately is off the shoulder tops and dresses. When I saw this dress for less than $20 I knew I needed it. I'm always weary to invest in good quality trendy pieces since you never know how long they'll be around for. When it comes to this trend specifically it'll most likely only be wearable during the warmer months. Here's how I style an off the shoulder neck:

Dress: Forever 21
Shoes: Gap similar under $20!
Sunglasses: Marshall's
Necklace: Kate Spade
Bracelets: Cape Cod | KJP Mantra Band
Earrings: J. Crew Factory

I wanted to keep my hair up to really show off the neckline of this dress, so a low messy bun was perfect. I love easy hairstyles, specifically in the summer, that don't require heat. I wanted to keep the rest of this outfit rather simple so all the focus would be on the dress. Unfortunately the dress has almost completely sold out online, but I'll link some other off the shoulder pieces I'm loving!

OOTD: Neutral Transitioning

I finally have a new outfit post and I'm so excited about it! As much as I love shopping, I can't justify buying a completely new wardrobe for every season. With that being said, I really try to take pieces from one season and transition them into the next. For this outfit, I used my fall and winter pieces with my spring pieces to create this really easy and affordable outfit. I bought this dress recently for less than $10!

Dress: Forever 21 less than $10
Jean Jacket: American Eagle similar
Shoes: Charlotte Rouse similar under $20
Backpack: Forever 21 similar
Hat: H&M similar
Necklace: Kate Spade
Bracelets: Cape Cod | KJP | Mantra Band

I'm all about loose and t shirt like dresses so when I saw this one in Forever 21 I know I needed it. I'm a huge fan of army green and an even bigger fan of the price of this dress! I paired with it with a jean jacket, which is my go to jacket for breezier days of spring and summer. I've been loving the lace up shoe trend since fall, but was skeptical to pay full price for the trend so I bought a cheaper alternative from Charlotte Rouse, instead of buying a designer pair. However, I've had my eyes recently on the Steve Madden Eleanorr flats and I think it's time to invest.

Backpacks are so easy and I'm absolutely loving this one lately, I love that it's so simple but the tassels give it an added detail. I loved this hat when I bought it in the winter, and I'm not quite ready to abandon it yet for sun hats. It's the perfect hat to give any outfit an added touch to really pull the entire look together. For jewelry I wanted to keep it simple, so I threw on my go to necklace, along with the bracelets I never take off.

Nightstand Inspiration & Progress

Hello all! I'm back home for the summer and so excited to redecorate my room at home. I'm trying not to buy anything new, and instead use everything I already have. For some reason I can't stop looking at pictures of nightstands on Pintrest lately so I'm going to share with you the pictures I've drawn inspiration from along with the progress I've made with my nightstand so far. I still need to hang some stuff on the wall above mine so let me know if you have any ideas for me, I'm thinking my monogram along with something else.

After hours exploring on Pinetrest, I realized some nightstand essentials seem to include a lamp (obviously), books, picture frames, art, and some random objects. I especially love the look of layered picture frames, book stacking, and keeping a similar color scheme. I used things I already had in my room to create my version of a layered nightstand drawing inspiration from the photos above! Follow my Pinterest Board for more inspiration!

I'm thinking of spray painting my lamp gold, but I'm not sure if that'll be too much gold, what do you think? I've collected a few coffee table books lately, but I obviously don't have my own coffee table yet so I figured they'd be perfect for my nightstand. I love the layered look of the frames along with the quote stacked on top of the books. It gives a great flow and rhythm, and I also like how overall my nightstand is asymmetric but the frames are symmetirc. I also love this floral ring around a glass jar I keep all my koozies in. A coaster is essential for keeping water next to my bed and I love that this one incorporates the gold of the frame and quote. The whale dish is super cute and a great place to throw jewelry I forgot to take off before bed. Let me know if you have any ideas for any changes I should make to my nightstand because after all it's still a work in progress!

Top 5 Need to Buy - April

The start of a new month means another wish list for the month! I've been absolutely loving all the trends lately and can't wait to incorporate them into my spring and summer wardrobe. Here's my April wishlist:

Top 5 need to buy

1. Lilly Pulitzer Pillow: I'm a huge fan of throw pillows and when Lilly Pulitzer  released their own somewhat recently, I knew I needed to get my hands on them. As someone who usually just buys throw pillows from Marshall's, I'm still trying to justify $35 for a pillow especially when I'm a broke college student. This pilllow is even prettier in person and would look perfect with my bedding at home and school.

2. Brandy Melville Denim Skirt: I'm slowly starting to love that denim skirts are becoming trendy again and I think the best way to incoproate the trend is through a white skirt, at least for me. White will be perfect in the summer and doesn't quite remind me of awkward middle school days. I also love that this one is button down.

3. J. Crew Factory Shorts (1) (2) (3): I love how classy J. Crew shorts and I can't wait to get my hands on more. These scalloped ones will add an interesting touch to any outfit, while the plain chinos are great for any outfit, and the last pair will be super confortable.

4. Lilly Pulitzer Enna Top: To say I'm obsessed with this top would be an understatement. It seems to be quickly selling out so if you like it, you'll want to try to get it on your hands soon! I love that it incorporates the off the shoulder trend and even has pom poms. I was so disappointed when I went to In the Pink  (a Lilly signature store) and they didn't have it.

5. Ray Ban Polarized Aviators: I've been wanting Ray Ban aviators for quite some time and I think it's time to finally invest. I tried on polarized sunglasses last semester and was obssessd. If I'm going to invest I deifnitely want them to be polarized.

Tuesday Top 10 #3

I'm so excited to be back with another Tuesday Top 10 with items perfect for spring! I'm absolutely loving all the trends lately and can't wait to share them all with you! Let's get started:

tuesday top 10 #3

1. "Wish You Were Here" Sun Hat: I must say this would make for some great Instagram pictures... anyways though this would be so cute for beach days to keep your face protected from the sun and would even be cute with a sundress.

2. Silk Romper: I love not only the style of this romper but also the floral pattern, perfect for walking around the city or for a spring date.

3. Tassel Lace-Up Sandals: Lace up has been a huge trend for multiple seasons now and I love that these sandals would add a pop of color to any outfit.

4. Lilly Pulitzer 'Enna" Top: This is probably my favorite item out of the 10 and the one I'm most likely going to buy. Off the shoulder is super trendy and I love that this is white making it super versatile.

5. Heeled Sandal: These would be perfect with a dress or even jeans! They're a bit more fancy than a flat sandal but more causal than wedges, making them a perfect go to sandal for spring and summer.

6. Benefit Highlighter: Highlighting has been huge lately and this creamy highlighter will be perfect for the spring and summer months.

7. Mirrored Sunglasses: Mirrored sunglasses have been huge and I love that these aren't aviators. I'm a huge fan of tortoise shell sunglasses, so I'm obsessed with these.

8. Lace Up Heels: I love that these are super chunky and seem more comfortable and somewhat more causal than the pink pair due to the chunky heel. This nude color is much more wearable thank the pink and will even be good to transition into fall.

9. Tassel Beach Shorts: Tassels have also been huge lately and I love that these shorts incorporate the trend. They'd be perfect to throw over a bathing suit for a day at the pool or the beach.

10. Scalloped Bikini: Although this may give you some weird tan lines, it's still so cute. Not only do I love the color, but I also love that it's scalloped and a halter top.

OOTD: Happy Easter Every Bunny

Happy Easter everyone! I hope you all had a relaxing day spent with loved ones if you celebrate and if you don't I hope you had a lovely Sunday! Easter is one of the few days I really appreciate having a bunny because he is perfect for Easter photo shoots (lol). Although it wasn't as warn as I would have hoped, I still decided to wear a dress. Here's a look at my outfit with my bunny:

I just had to include this picture too

Dress: Marshall's
Shoes: Gap Factory similar

I love how simple and easy dresses are to wear. This dress has a neckline that doesn't even require a necklace, how much easier could it get?! I bought this dress without even trying it on and when I tried it on at home I was so glad I had bought it. Not to toot my own horn, BUT I think this dress fits me really well and really compliments my body shape. I'm not someone who loves tights dress so this dress is perfectly fitting -it's not too tight but it doesn't make me look like I'm wearing a potato sack. I'm going to add some dresses with the similar silhoutte and shape down below (I couldn't find any similar floral ones). I'll also add some similar shoes!TBH it looks like my skin hasn't seen the sun in forever, yikes. It's safe to say I can't wait for summer and for my skin to get some color ASAP.
