OOTD: A Very Merry 60 Degrees Christmas

I'm a few days late but Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! I hope you all had a relaxing holiday spent with family and loved ones! Unfortunately here in New England we didn't have a white Christmas, but it was kind of nice to experience a warmer Christmas for once. Here's what I wore before changing due to it being nearly 60 degrees out:

Turtleneck: Old Navy
Boots: BCBG Max Azria (TJ Maxx) similar
Necklace: Forever 21 similar

I've been seeing these corduroy button down skirts all over Instagram lately, so when I stopped in Brandy Melivlle and saw one in maroon (my favorite color to wear) I knew I needed to buy it. I'm going to link some other options down below for you guys to check out! Although it was 60 degrees I paired it with this super comfy turtleneck, another trend I've been absolutely loving! What did you wear for the holidays? Let me know in the comments below!

OOTD: A Pop of Plaid

Happy Blogmas Day 5! Layering with button downs, sweaters, and vests is my absolute favorite way to stay warm in the fall and winter when it's not too chilly. This outfit is super colorful, but still all coordinates and ties together. Here's how I add a pop of plaid to an otherwise simple outfit:

Sweater: Gap similar
Plaid Button Down: Vineyard Vines Boy Size similar
Jeggings: American Eagle
Boots: L.L. Bean
Necklace: J. Crew Factory similar

The plaid button down incorporates the color of the sweater almost perfectly. It's not too matchy matchy and by adding the plaid button down it adds something to a rather simple outfit consisting of just a sweater and vest. Bean Boots are the perfect shoes to finish off any casual outfit in the fall and winter. Although they can feel chunky at times, they are perfect to wear to bundle up with chunky socks and will be perfect when it starts snowing.

What's your favorite way to incorporate plaid into your outfit? Let me know in the comments below! Stay tuned for a post about some of my other plaid pieces to add some plaid to your cold weather wardrobe.

Top 5 Need to Buy - December

Happy Blogmas Day 2! I haven't done a "Top 5 Need to Buy" since August so I'd figure now would be a good time to bring it back with the holidays coming up. I honestly struggled a bit when making this because there isn't really anything I'm dying to buy lately and I could barely think of things to ask for for Christmas. Some of these items are just general ideas of things I want while others are the exact items I would like to buy for myself or receive as gifts. Enough rambling, let's get started!

Top 5 need to buy December

1. Faux Fur Vest: I've been wanting to buy a fur vest for what feels like years but never actually get around to doing it. The vests are either out of my price range I'd be willing to pay or just look extremely cheap. This one is a happy medium between the two, it's under $100 but still looks good. Unsure if I'd actually wear it enough to make the price worth it, but I definitely have my eye on this furry piece.

2. Vineyard Vines Santa Whale T-Shirt: This is just too adorable to pass up and if I'm being completely honest I'm already thinking of cute Instagram photo ideas wearing this shirt (I think I might have a problem but it's totally okay). This shirt is perfect for the holidays and although it may seem a bit pricey for a t-shirt, I swear by Vineyard Vines t=shirts because the quality is fantastic and super comfy overall.

3. Kate Spade Initial Necklace: This is one of the items I am dying to buy or receive, definitely towards the top of my Christmas list. I've been needing a nice every day  gold necklace and this one seems perfect. I have a silver monogram necklace already so I wanted something different in gold and this is the perfect substitute while stilling giving  a personal touch to an outfit.

4. Ansley slippers or Mini Boots: I can't decide what kind of slippers I want but I'd be happy with either of these. My uggs have definitely seen better days so it's about time they get replaced. Although they aren't the most fashionable option available, they are nice to have for lazy and cold New England days.

5. Oversized Turtleneck Sweater: I've been eyeing loads of turtleneck sweaters online but have never been able to find one in person I really liked. I'm eyeing this one because it's perfectly oversized without swallowing you up. I'm also loving this Old Navy one for under $50.

Tuesday's Top Ten #1

As chillier weather and the holidays approach, here's this weeks top 10! This is a new series I'm trying out on my blog so let me know what you think in the comments below!

1. Fringe Clutch: trendier than the typical clutch & can be worn as a cross body on an everyday basis

2. Blanket Scarf: not the typical plaid blanket scarf, but still perfect for the chillier months that are coming whether it's worn with a coat or just a sweater

3. Sleeveless Dress: can easily be dressed up or down for class, going out, or the holidays & an easy piece to layer with

4. Sleeveless Turtleneck: wear it with a light jacket before it gets too cold up North or wear it on its own while it's still warm in the South, also perfect for holiday events

5. Vegan Weekender: perfect for long weekends and packing to go home or on trips for the upcoming holiday season (under $70!)

6. Ankle Booties: fall essential for all outfits, dress them up with a dress or pair them with a flannel and jeans for a more causal outfit

7. Plaid Wool Coat: stand out in the chillier weather without sacrificing on warmth

8. Maroon Jacket: an everyday jacket that's not the typical army green jacket everyone seems to have

9. Metallic Loafers: spice up your professional outfit without sacrificing on practicality and they are still something you can wear on a daily basis

OOTD: Head of the Charles Regatta

It's been quite some time since I've posted on here, but I'm back! College has been going great lately; it's definitely more work, but nothing too horrible. I don't have classes on Fridays so my friend and I decided to go to Head of the Charles Regatta, but of course we went to the wrong part (typical), so we didn't get to meet KJP like we planned. But I did get some photos out of the excursion for an outfit post so it was still worth the trip.

Sweater: Ralph Lauren (Marshall's tends to have them for under $40)
Button Down: Vineyard Vines similar
Boots: Steve Madden similar
Necklace: J Crew Factory similar
Sunglasses: Forver 21 similar
Purse: Michael Kors similar
