What I've Been Reading

Hello everyone! I know I've been majorly slacking lately but I'm back with a new post! Today I'm sharing with you books I've been reading lately and let me start by saying they are all page turners and perfect beach reads! I'm not going to go too much in to the plot, but rather what I thought and why I love them (links to each will be provided). Let's get started!

1. Perfect Chemistry: "A fresh, urban twist on the classic tale of star-crossed lovers." (Amazon) I have now read this 3 times and every time has been a complete page turner & right when I finished it, I was ready to read it again. It's the typical bad boy and good girl teen romance novel but something about it makes it so so so good like 11/10 good. I think the plot is every girls dream relationship (minus a few parts). Let's be serious, who doesn't want a bad boy that's good just for you?

2. The Sound: First of all this book takes place in Nantucket, and that alone makes it the perfect beach read. I don't know about you but I'd love to spend my summer in Nantucket and that's what originally made me gravitate to the book and lucky for me it was amazing. It's another teen romance with a good girl but TWO guys with an aspect of mystery to it and filled with suspense. This was also a complete page turner and I so wish there was a sequel to it. I just let my friend borrow the book and guarantee she'll love it too, so please do yourself a favor and go read it!

3. Did I Ever Wake Up: If you are in need of some positivity or motivation in life then you need to read/listen to this ASAP. I first heard of it from Meghan Hughes on YouTube but didn't want to spend the money on it, however, I saw that the audio book was apart of his album so I went ahead and bought it on iTunes and let me tell you it's one of the best decisions I've made and then I immediately went and bought the actual book. As cliche as it sounds, this book will change your life. It'll help you learn to think positive, focus on what you want, and make you realize you are in charge of your own life. You can also listen to it on Spotify! This book will remain on my nightstand for when I need a little motivation and positivity in my life. I recommended this to a friend and she listened to it right away and also bought the book!

Adventures at Sunset

I don't think anything is better than watching the sunset over the ocean. If you are ever in Southern New Jersey, you should definitely go to Sunset Beach at Cape May Point! My family got there a bit early, so we stopped at the little store to shop around and then headed onto the rocky beach for the sunset!

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

I'm back with another OOTD, this one is featuring patterned shorts & chambray (one of my summer staples). Although it is rather humid and hot out, I'm just running some errands so I'm not exactly dressing for the outside weather.

Splurge vs Save: Espadrilles

I'm always seeing the cutest espadrilles, especially on Instagram, so I've decided to dedicate a blog post to them! Tory Burch and Chanel have the cutest ones, but they aren't exactly affordable, but I've found some similar options for a fraction of the price! Espadrilles aren't exactly something you can wear year round, or at least in New England, so I'd never buy an expensive pair!

Top 5 Need to Buy - July

Hi everyone! Since it's the beginning of the month, it's time for another "Top 5 Need to Buy!" There's not really much stuff I've been eyeing lately,  but here's what I do have my eyes on:

top 5 need to buy for july

1. LUCKY BRAND BASEL BOOTIES: I really need some ankle boots for the fall (bean boots don't look good with everything) and I fell in love with these when I saw them at Macy's. I have some giftcards to spend at Macy's and I'm 90% sure this is what I'll be buying.

2. LILY AND LAURA BRACELETS: I saw these last year on vacation but never bought them, but I think this year I'm going to. I think they are perfect for arm candy and layering with my Alex and Anis. Not entirely sure what colors I want yet because they have so many options.

3. J. CREW FACTORY CHINO SHORTS: I'm really in need of shorts that are classier and longer. I really haven't been loving high waisted shorts lately and I always feel uncomfortable wearing them, so I think these shorts would be a great solution.

4. ALEX AND ANI COMPASS SLIDER CHARM BANGLE: I love how this Alex and Ani charm doesn't dangle. I've really been wanting some gold Alex and Anis and this one is at the top of my list.

5. LILLY PULITZER RIGHT RETURN 17 MONTH AGENDA: I've had a Lilly agenda the past 2 years and plan on buying one again this year. I usually get the large agenda, but I love this pattern so much that I might settle on the jumbo size.

The College Guide: Campus Essentials

I've decided to start another series on my blog called "The College Guide." After completing my freshman year I'd like to think I learned some things and have some advice/tips to share. Today I'm sharing with you what I consider my necessitates whether I'm walking around campus, going to class, going to a meal, or going to hang out with my friends! Here's some of my essentials:

class necessities
links for each item are provided

Agenda:
I think this one is a bit obvious. You need to keep track of every thing from homework, to clubs, to your work schedule because college can get really hectic at times and overwhelming. Simply writing down things can help you stay organized and less stressed!

Kate Spade Gold Dots | Lilly Pulitzer Right Return

 Case & Makeup Bag:
I never really used a pencil case in high school but I found myself using one in college. I tried to be more organized and this definitely helped. Besides who wants a pen exploding onto their laptop? I personally don't bring a makeup bag around campus with me but if you are someone who likes to fix your makeup during the day this'll be good to have. Again, you don't need makeup exploding all over your laptop.

Tote & Backpack:
This is definitely a personal preference. If you don't have a lot to carry around, especially if you don't carry around your laptop around campus, than a bag may be your choice. I like using a backpack, I find it more convenient and easier to not have one of my arms being weighed down or my bag swaying back and forth almost hitting people I walk by. However, I do wish my backpack had a laptop sleeve to keep it protected.

THE NORTH FACE Jester backpack | Herschel Supply Co. 'Settlement Mid Volume' Backpack

Laptop Sleeve/Case:
It's important to keep your laptop safe and protected so I think this is a huge essential, something I really need to invest in. If you have a backpack with a spot made for laptops this isn't necessarily something you need to buy. When buying, make sure the sleeve/case will be big enough!

ID Holder:
College IDs are one of the most important things to always have with you so having an ID case is an easy way to make sure you always have it with you and have it ready to go when needed. You'll most likely need to have it to get into your building and for meal swipes.

Vera Bradley Zip-Around ID Case | Lilly Pulitzer ID Smartphone Wristlet

Lanyard & Keychain & Key Fob:
Just like your ID, you're key will always need to be on you for obvious reasons. If you don't want to use an ID case these are great alternatives for your ID and key. Or even attach a lanyard, keychain, or key fob to your ID holder.

Vera Bradley Breakaway Lanyard | Lilly Pulitzer Key Fob
Kate Spade Keychain (not the searhorse but equally as cute) | Rebecca Minkoff Tassel Key Fob

USB:
It's important to have a USB for all your files. You may be using a computer in class and need the file later on your laptop and this'll make it convenient. I like how this one is a keychain which makes sure you'll always have it if you carry it around with your keys. Of course you could always just email stuff to yourself too.

Marc by Marc Jacobs USB stick key fob (similar)

Water Bottle & Thermal Mug:
You're going to want to stay hydrated and this is the perfect way to do so. Also keeping a drink on you will prevent you from having to spend money on drinks when you get thirsty or having to get up during class to grab a drink from a water fountain. Bringing your own coffee or tea to class can save you money while waking you up in the morning.

CamelBak | Kate Spade Water Bottle
Lilly Pulitzer Thermal Mug (more available during colder weather) | BAN.DO Thermal Travel Mug

External Battery:
If you have back to back classes or are super busy, you probably won't have time to charge your phone so this will be more convenient for you. Besides, having a dead phone will be very boring walking between classes.
